Vipers SC Extend Karim Watambala’s Contract

Vipers SC has handed attacking midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala a two-year contract extension.

Watambala, who is a St. Mary’s Kitende SS graduate will now stay at the club for the next two years and this was made official on wednesday morning.

“Industrious midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala has reached an agreement and signed a two-year contract extension with the Kitende-based outfit, reads a statement from Vipers.

It is good news for Watambala, more so at a time when the club let go of his fellow youngsters including Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye.

The midfielder had a good season, scoring three goals last campaign, notably that equaliser against BUL FC (1-1), a goal that proved to be gold as Vipers clinched their 6th League title.

Watambala, who made his Vipers debut in the 2019/2020 season has won three Uganda Premier League titles and two Uganda Cups during his stay at Kitende.

He has never played for any other team apart from Vipers, given the fact that he came from SMASK, a feeder side for the senior team.

And he will be hoping for better performances, at a side that has depth in quality competing for starting slot at the club.

The Venoms have already added three players including Brazilian striker Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez, midfielder David Bagoole and left back Richard Matovu.

They have also let go of a couple of players including Frank Tumwesigye, Bashir Asiku, Ibrahim Orit among others.
