Last week, the Bunyoro Kingdom was abuzz with sporting fervor as two major events, the MTN-sponsored Bicycle Race and the Enganda Football Tournament, took center stage. These events, organized by the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom in collaboration with MTN Uganda, aimed to unearth and promote local talents among the youth while fostering unity in the Bunyoro community.
MTN-Sponsored Bicycle Race:
In the verdant setting of Kibale district, the MTN-sponsored Bicycle Race attracted an impressive turnout of participants and supporters. More than 50 cyclists enthusiastically pedaled their way through the competition, vying for top honors and the coveted rewards. The top five finishers not only received gifts but also secured their spots in the grand finals scheduled for October in Hoima City.
Mr. Lawrence Kasangaki, the county chief of Buyanja, emphasized the importance of discipline among the participants throughout the race. He stated, “Discipline is paramount in achieving success, and I urge all participants to uphold it during these competitions.”

- Turyamwijuka Blazio – Prize: 500,000 UGX
- Kitone David – Prize: 400,000 UGX
- Kiiza Vincent – Prize: 300,000 UGX

Women’s Category:
- Nakitende Immaculate – Prize: 400,000 UGX

Enganda Football Tournament:
The Enganda Football Tournament, held in Kibaale district, was equally electrifying. The tournament featured four teams from different clans: Abasaigi, Abahinda, Abafumambogo, and Ababaito. These teams showcased their skills and determination, but it was the Abasaigi clan that emerged triumphant. Their victory secured their spot in the final games scheduled for October in Hoima City.
