South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday night revoked the appointment of two SPLM-IO parliamentarians from the Transitional National Legislative Assembly Anyang (TNLA), named their replacements, and appointed two others to replace deceased lawmakers.
The SPLM-IO members who were removed from the House are Akol Akuei and Achol Mariar Deng.
In another decree read on the state-run television, South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC), Kiir appointed four members of parliament to replace the two lawmakers and deceased MPs.
The new appointees to the TNLA are Robert Anai Salva Mathok to replace his father, the late Gen. Salva Mathok Gengdit (SPLM), Nabeel Keleke to replace the late Michael Ariamba (SPLM-IO), Tot Nyuot to replace Dr. Achol Mariar (SPLM/-O) who was appointed a member of the TNLA’s Upper House, the Council of States, and Anyang Akol Akuei to replace Ahmed Al-Nur Mohamed Ajang (SPLM-IO).
No reasons were given for the removal of the two SPLM-IO parliamentarians.
