An SSPDF wounded hero was over the weekend arrested in Nimule Municipal Council in Eastern Equatoria State for causing the death of a police officer over a woman.
The wife of Dominic Otorit, the deceased, was impregnated by his killer.
Major David Khasmiro, the police inspector at Nimule Town Council, identified the killer as Chol Malek.
“The killer is in custody and he is called Chol Malek, one of the wounded heroes. He killed Dominic Otorit just because of a woman. Police are still carrying out investigations,” he said. “If the late had opened a case earlier, it would have been easier but now it led to his death. As you can see, sometimes some women are problematic.”
The police officer urged the public to stop taking the law into their hands.
Meanwhile, Major Akol Amet Amet, the SSPDF commander in Nimule, confirmed the arrest of the killer soldier and said the issue was brought to his attention and the suspect is currently in police custody awaiting trial.
“Investigations are ongoing, he messed up with the wife of the late until they had a kid. The woman used to deceive people in her relationship and issues of children and our law is very clear. You cannot claim a child in someone’s home,” he said. “My advice to law enforcement agencies is that no one should take the law into their hands, especially if you do not know where your right is.”
He added: “Wounded heroes usually come during salary payment and they now do not have parades where they can some advice on how to stay on the right side.”
He advised people, even armed ones to seek redress through the law.
