South Sudan People’s Defense Force – SSPDF Spokesperson Maj Gen Lul Ruai Koang has confirmed that soldiers belonging to the 7th Infantry Brigade, 7th Infantry division in Eastern Equatoria State launched a surprise attack on forces alleged belong to comedian Phillip Omon a.k.a Feel Free in Magwi County.
The comedian is said to be the leader of the new South Sudanese rebel outfit called the People’s Freedom Movement – PFM.
“Our own mobile Infantry unit from 7th Infantry Brigade, 7th Infantry division, received actionable intelligence and as a result, launched a surprise attack on Feel free’s hideout at the foot of Bio mountain, Mangalli Payam, Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State.,” said Gen Lul.
“The brief engagement resulted in 2 PFM fighters getting killed in action while the outlawed leader narrowly cheated death with two bodyguards. Our units are still in pursuit with end state of either neutralizing the high value target or getting him arrested in order to face justice,” he added.
Comedian Feel Free said last month that he formed the new rebel group to free South Sudanese citizens from Kiir’s rule of an iron hand.
He would later promote himself to the rank of Colonel shortly after announcing his rebellion against the Juba government in April 2024.
