The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has announced her intention to challenge Rebecca Kadaga for the position of National Vice Chairperson (Female) within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Among revealed her decision on Wednesday during a meeting with the executive delegation of the Uganda Urban Council Speakers Association at Parliament.

“I’m not standing for the Eastern Region. I’m going to stand for the National Vice Chairperson (Female),” she stated, clarifying her political aspirations.

While the association had encouraged her to vie for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region, Among emphasized that her focus is on securing the higher national role.

The delegation, representing urban council speakers, had visited the Speaker’s office to present a petition addressing welfare, logistical, and financial challenges that hinder the effective execution of their duties.
