Abaranzi Edge Abagimu in Football Final
The football final was a showcase of determination and skill, with Abaranzi breaking through Abagimu’s resilience to secure their first-ever Enganda Cup. Francis Mugisa opened the scoring in the 27th minute, slotting home a well-taken goal to give Abaranzi the lead. The first half saw Abaranzi dominate possession, but Abagimu’s defense held firm, keeping the scoreline tight.
The second half brought more drama as William Nyakojo sealed the victory for Abaranzi in the 56th minute with a stunning long-range effort that left Abagimu goalkeeper Ibrahim Mwesige with no chance. The goal sparked wild celebrations among the Abaranzi faithful, who had turned out in huge numbers to support their team.
“We played a very strong team, but we were determined and committed because we needed the trophy. This was our first time qualifying for the finals, and we wanted it badly. Thank God we secured it,” said Nyakojo, the match-winner.
Abaranzi’s coach, Joseph Tumwesige, praised his team’s resilience and the unwavering support of their fans. “It wasn’t an easy task, right from the group stages. But we had assembled a very good team, and we wanted the trophy, which we have finally got,” Tumwesige said.
For their efforts, Abaranzi walked away with UGX 2,000,000 in prize money, a trophy, and gold medals, while Abagimu took home UGX 1,000,000 and silver medals.
