Mufti Mubajje Urges Government To Ban TikTok In Uganda

Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje, has called for a ban on TikTok in Uganda, citing its misuse by idle individuals to slander others.

He expressed concerns that some Muslim leaders are using the platform to spread misleading information to the faithful. Sheikh Mubajje made these remarks during Eid al-Fitr prayers at Old Kampala Mosque.

“The government banned Facebook it was regulated. However, TikTok is filled with harmful individuals, and it would be better if the platform were banned, Even the sheiks who preach on TikTok spread misleading messages. They resort to abuse and communicate things that disrupt the faith.” Mubajje said.

Mufti Mubajje added, “Most of the sheiks on TikTok are misguiding people, preaching very shallow and misleading messages.”

Meanwhile, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council has defended its decision to extend Sheikh Mubajje’s tenure despite him being 70 years old. The council insists that its actions are in line with the constitution and are necessary to maintain stability in Islamic leadership.
