Laughter, Roasts, and Cheers As Comedy Grill Celebrates Anne Kansiime’s Journey

On Friday night, the Sheraton Gardens buzzed with excitement as comedy lovers gathered for The Comedy Grill, a special event celebrating years of Anne Kansiime’s trailblazing career. The evening delivered a vibrant mix of wit, laughter, and unfiltered roasts, turning the night into a memorable tribute to Uganda’s comedy queen.

Guests arrived to a warm red-carpet welcome and were treated to signature Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger cocktails the perfect pairing for the fiery humor that followed.

Setting the tone for the night was comedian Daniel Omara, whose sharp, brief set offered a flavorful teaser of what was to come. The show officially kicked off with high-energy introductions from the dynamic MC duo Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira, who hyped up the audience and welcomed the night’s “Grill Chefs.”

The roast lineup featured a vibrant mix of veteran entertainers and fresh comedic voices, including Salvador, Madrat and Chico, Nana Kagga, GNL Zamba, Gaetano Kaggwa, Dr. Miria Matembe, Prim Asiimwe, and Skylanta. Each brought their unique flair to the stage, showcasing the rich tapestry of Ugandan talent.

Anne Kansiime made a show-stopping entrance in a flowery pink gown, stepping into the spotlight with grace and good humor as the night’s star “roastee.” Kicking off the grilling was hip-hop legend GNL Zamba, whose playful jabs set the stage for an evening of clever insults, quick comebacks, and side-splitting laughter.

With each roast, the energy only intensified. The audience was treated to clapbacks, comic digs, and heartfelt moments, creating an unforgettable mix of entertainment and emotion.
