Celebrated Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide, popularly known as Shopsydoo or the Energy Gawd, is heading to Uganda to attend the highly anticipated launch of Bebe Cool’s new album Break The Chains, set for this Thursday, May 29th, at Noni Vie.
Adesope is a UK-based Nigerian radio and television host, talk show presenter, and podcaster, best known for The Afrobeats Podcast, a globally respected platform dedicated to Afrobeats and Afro pop culture.
The collaboration between Bebe Cool and Adesope signals a promising cultural exchange between the Ugandan and Nigerian music industries. Adesope has previously worked with renowned artists such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Sarkodie, Lil Kesh, and Uganda’s very own Joshua Baraka, among others.
Anticipation for Break The Chains has been building, especially following the release of the first two singles, Circumference and Motivation, which unveiled a new Afrobeat-influenced sound from Bebe Cool, marking a bold evolution in his musical journey.
Adesope is widely regarded as a key advocate for African music and culture, often described as an unsung hero in the global rise of the Afrobeats genre. His media career began in 2003, and he has since played a pivotal role in amplifying African sounds to the world.
In recognition of his influence, Ranks Africa named him one of Africa’s 100 Most Impactful Individuals. He has been instrumental in launching and promoting the early careers of many global Afrobeats stars, long before they achieved mainstream recognition.
Since launching The Afrobeats Podcast in September 2020, Adesope has interviewed a long list of African music heavyweights, including Stonebwoy, CKay, Rema, Fuse ODG, Brymo, Don Jazzy, Sarkodie, Camidoh, Fireboy DML, Darkovibes, Ruger, Timaya, Wizkid, Diamond Platnumz, Yemi Alade — and his host for the upcoming event, Bebe Cool.
Adesope’s work continues to build bridges between continents through the universal language of music. His dedication to promoting Afrobeats has earned him the nickname “Afrobeats CNN,” a title given to him by superstar Wizkid in recognition of his unwavering commitment to the culture.
