Lubowa Ignition: Where Celebs Swapped Mics for Motors

Celebrities, including musicians, DJs, MCs, media personalities and event organisers, on Sunday, June 1, put their known skill sets aside, to compete in a blood-boiling kart racing event, at Lubowa Karting, along Entebbe road.

The event dubbed Lubowa Ignition Tournament, started off with the junior category, which saw youngsters showcase their skills on the track. 

The professional category, followed thereafter, with pro racers like Bebeto, Yosemite, and Henk battling fire the top spot. Hank emerged as the winner of the this category, taking home a cash prize. 

As the pros took to the track, celebrities like musicians Big Trill, Zuli Tums, American-British singer Max Noir, and media personalities Sammy Wetala, Evelyn Mic, and Talent Africa’s Aly Allibhai, watched on taking notes on how to navigate the snaking race track. 

The celebrities, who clearly were amateurs in the sport, started with a dry run race, preparing for the actual showdown, and this sent the spectators into uncontrollable laughter, as many of them kept crushing  into each other andmissing turns. However, they would eventually master the art of Karting, and the race started off. 

After an exhilarating race, media personality Sammy Wetale emerged as the winner, with Alibhai taking second position, and  Big Trill taking third position. 

The excitement on the track was supplemented by thrilling mixes from DJ Tony, who kept the vibe in high gear throughout the day.

Emil Kwame Ampofo, Director of Lubowa Karting, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We were captivated by the drama on track, especially by the celebrities who took part, at our inaugural Ignition tournament. The competitors and spectators truly made it a memorable event.”
