The Electoral Commission has announced the nomination dates for candidates seeking to contest for positions in parish committees for special interest groups, including youth, older persons, and persons with disabilities. The nominations will take place on June 26th and 27th, 2025.
According to Julius Mucunguzi, the spokesperson of the Electoral Commission, interested candidates can obtain nomination forms from their sub-county, ward, or town council headquarters. To qualify for nomination, candidates must have been elected to village-level committees for youth, older persons, or persons with disabilities.
The Electoral Commission has also clarified that the electorate for the parish-level committees will comprise the village-level committees for each category. For instance, village committees for youth in a parish will elect the parish-level committee for youth.
The Electoral Commission encourages eligible candidates to participate in the nomination process and emphasises the importance of following the guidelines and procedures set forth for the elections
