Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, Tuesday demonstrated her hands-on leadership approach by personally supervising the ongoing road works along Kisenyi Road, a critical route serving Kampala’s Central Division.
Buzeki, who toured the project site last evening, affirmed that the works are progressing on schedule and are set to deliver tangible benefits to traders and commuters.
“This evening, we conducted a spot supervision of the Kisenyi Road works, located in the Central Division.
The progress of the civil works is satisfactory,” Buzeki said in a post via her official X account, shortly after inspection.
Once completed, Buzeki says the road will greatly enhance access to the hub of the produce business in the city, including Uganda’s largest market, St. Balikudembe (Owino), and surrounding areas.
“We are dedicated to making Kampala a truly liveable city, and that starts with ensuring our infrastructure can support both local businesses and the everyday lives of our citizens,” she asserted.
The Kisenyi Road upgrades will improve access to major commercial hotspots, notably the St. Balikudembe Market (Owino), Uganda’s largest market. KCCA officials noted that the improved connectivity will spur economic growth, ease the movement of goods and services, and reduce congestion in one of the city’s busiest trade corridors.

Buzeki emphasized that her field visit reflects a broader commitment to transparency, accountability, and public engagement. “Being present and engaging with our projects allows for better monitoring and fosters a culture of collaboration among stakeholders,” she explained, urging residents and business owners to share feedback throughout the project’s lifecycle.
The Kisenyi project forms part of KCCA’s wider infrastructure agenda, which includes rehabilitating roads, drainage channels, and public spaces to transform Kampala into a modern, efficient urban hub.
