The National Resistance Movement – NRM Electoral Commission has disqualified Fiona Nakku from contesting for the position of National Female Youth Member of Parliament over old age.
Fiona who is a sister to NRM National Treasurer Barbra Nekesa was seeking to hold the NRM flag in the forthcoming elections but was ruled out after the National Identification and Registration Authority -NIRA confirmed that she is above the youth age limit.
In a letter seen by The Tower Post, Dr. Tanga Odoi the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission informed Nakku that she does not qualify to vie for the youth seat as she is 31 years old, exceeding the 18–30 years requirement set for National Youth Council positions.
“As you are aware, there was a complaint lodged against you by several persons… The National Identification and Registration Authority has now confirmed that you are not eligible to contest for the position on the National Youth Council,” Dr. Odoi stated in the letter dated August 18, 2025.
He added that the Commission was legally obligated to de-nominate her from the contest.

Her attempt to re-enter national politics through the youth representation has now been blocked by the party’s electoral body.
The disqualification followed a petition led by lawyer Amanya Aaron of ABNO Advocates, who challenged Nakku’s eligibility. NIRA’s findings were decisive, leading to her removal from the race.
Officials said NRM will proceed to nominate eligible candidates within the stipulated youth age bracket to compete for the position of National Female Youth MP flag bearer.
