KIU Medical Student Wins UGX 1.5 Million in Stanbic Bank’s ‘Kya Double’ Campaign

A first-year medical student at Kampala International University (KIU) has become the latest winner in Stanbic Bank Uganda’s popular “Kya Double with SupaDupa” campaign, walking away with UGX 1.5 million after opening a new bank account and making a deposit.

Daniella Muwanga Nantege, a 20-year-old pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at KIU’s Ishaka campus, was officially announced as a winner during a brief ceremony held at the Stanbic Bank Mbarara branch on Wednesday.

The presentation was led by Lloyd Mutyaba, the bank’s Western Region Manager, and Hajji Ali Lwanga, Sales Manager at Stanbic.

Plans for the Prize: Education First, Self-Care Too

Speaking after receiving her prize, Nantege shared her excitement and plans for the cash. “I’m truly thankful to Stanbic Bank for this opportunity,” she said. “I’ll use the money to buy a laptop for my studies and invest in some self-care items like skincare products—because as a young woman, that matters too.”

Nantege previously attended Uganda Martyrs Comprehensive School Namugongo and Mount St. Mary’s Namagunga, where she completed her O-Level and A-Level studies.

More Winners Emerging Across the Country

The “Kya Double with SupaDupa” campaign is rewarding customers with cash prizes throughout the year. Another recent winner is Ronald Kajura, an employee at Laborex Uganda, who claimed a UGX 5 million prize after saving regularly with Stanbic Bank.

Kajura, who opened his account at the Kasangati branch, was initially skeptical when he received the winning call while in Mbale. “I thought it might be a scam,” he admitted. “But after a second call, I visited the Stanbic branch in Mbale where the manager confirmed I had indeed won.”

He plans to use part of his prize to support his aging parents and invest in personal development.

Campaign Details: Over UGX 100 Million in Cash Prizes Up for Grabs

Launched in June, the “Kya Double with SupaDupa” campaign will run until December 2025, with over UGX 100 million earmarked for prizes to reward loyal and active customers across Uganda.

Winners are selected regularly, with customers eligible by:

  • Opening a new account
  • Reactivating a dormant account
  • Making consistent deposits or conducting transactions via Stanbic’s digital platforms or in-branch

According to Hajji Ali Lwanga, when a customer’s account is selected, Stanbic doubles the balance—a unique twist that inspired the campaign’s name, “Kya Double.”

“Every active customer stands a chance to win, regardless of where they bank with us,” said Lwanga. “We’re rewarding loyalty and encouraging more people to embrace digital banking.”

Stanbic’s Broader Commitment to Youth, Women, and Farmers

The campaign is part of Stanbic Bank Uganda’s broader mission to transform lives through innovative financial solutions. As part of its WYF Growth Agenda, the bank has pledged to invest UGX 1 trillion in Women, Youth, and Farmers by 2028.

Stanbic Uganda CEO Mumba Kalifungwa emphasized the bank’s focus on financial inclusion and sustainable development during the release of its half-year financial results.

How to Participate

To join the ongoing campaign:

  1. Open a Stanbic Bank account (new or reactivate a dormant one)
  2. Deposit or transact regularly
  3. Use digital channels or visit a nearby branch

The more you transact, the higher your chances of winning as Stanbic continues to reward customers nationwide through December.
