MultiChoice Uganda has today launched its latest absorbing telenovela, Loving Beyond, set against the vibrant backdrop of Uganda’s competitive sugar industry. The show focuses on the intense rivalry between two powerful families, the Lutaayas and the Lules.
Set in Uganda’s Sugar belt, the story revolves around Nakki Lutaaya, played by talented young actress Gibril Igale, whose return home sparks a chain of events that defy generations of hatred and stirs tensions between the two families.
Seasoned stars Nuwa Wamala Nnyanzi and Settimba Sempala Charles take on the roles of Mr. Lutaaya and Mr. Lule respectively as patriarchs on either side of the rivalry of the show whose blend of talent is set to keep Ugandans captivated.
Speaking about the show, Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, urged Ugandans to strive for excellence in their productions to showcase Ugandan stories effectively like is done in Loving Beyond.
“We are delighted to launch Loving Beyond, a show that offers a glimpse into Uganda’s lucrative sugar sector through the eyes of Ugandans,” Jamugisa said. “This series, like many other local productions on the M-Net platforms Pearl Magic Prime and Pearl Magic, demonstrates that how we package our stories is what makes them compelling and watch-worthy. Ensuring the highest quality of our work is crucial to competing favourably in the international market.”
Jamugisa also encouraged young talent to prepare themselves for opportunities in the film industry, highlighting MultiChoice Uganda’s commitment to growing local content through M-Net.
“I urge young and emerging talents to hone their skills for future opportunities. Our newly launched show features a talented cast and showcases well thought-out storylines and plot. As the leading supporter of local content, we’ve intent on nurturing young talent through initiatives like the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) and various skilling masterclasses,” Jamugisa said.
“Furthermore, through M-Net, MultiChoice Uganda has invested in numerous licensed and commissioned content, boasting over 2,500 watch hours across Pearl Magic and Pearl Magic Prime. Our portfolio includes popular shows such as Sanyu, Prestige, Crossroads, Kampala Creme, Damalie, Date My Family, Juniors Drama Club, Mizigo Express, Hotel Mara, Khalayi Beats, and Popi, among others,” he added.
Margaret Mathore, the Head of Channels at M-Net East Africa, welcomed the new show as one that cements M-Net’s commitment to investing in local content.

By creating stories that stay true to who we are, our aim is not only to entertain but also connect with our audiences in a manner that inspires and appeals to our collective conscience as a society,” Mathore said.
Jerry Sesanga, the show’s producer, thanked Multichoice Uganda for supporting local content by giving Ugandans a platform to tell authentic stories while offering a lifeline to young creatives.
“Loving Beyond is a product of meticulous planning and countless hours spent finding the ideal way to tell a this truly Ugandan story. For many creatives, achieving the right balance between authenticity and quality demands deep reflection and collaboration with various stakeholders,” Sesanga revealed, adding that, “In this production, M-Net played this vital role and helped us to ensure that this vision came to life.”

Over the years, MultiChoice Uganda has upheld immense support for the Uganda film industry with the continued launch of epic local shows through Pearl Magic Prime and Pearl Magic. This effort aims to expand its content offerings and provide audiences with stories that resonate with them.
