Bunyoro Leaders Hail Museveni for Region’s Transformation, Women Empowerment

Leaders from the Bunyoro Sub-region have applauded President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for driving major infrastructure projects and advancing women’s empowerment, saying the region is finally experiencing the economic transformation it has long awaited.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja led the commendations as President Museveni kicked off his Bunyoro campaign in Buyanja Village, Kibaale District. She praised him as a key force behind women’s emancipation, adding that her own rise to the office of Prime Minister is evidence of the expanded opportunities women now enjoy under his administration.

Matovu Fred, the NRM Chairperson for Kibaale District, also lauded the government for spearheading flagship developments such as Kabalega International Airport, Hoima City Stadium, a regional public university, and improved road networks. He further noted that 110 acres have already been secured for the establishment of the Kibaale Industrial Park.

Addressing residents, President Museveni reaffirmed the government’s plan to create an industrial park requiring about ten square miles, alongside a skilling hub designed to enhance youth employment and promote value addition. He attributed Bunyoro’s impressive strides to sustained peace, recalling past threats from ADF incursions in Muzizi.

“Peace is the foundation of development,” he emphasized, urging the community to safeguard national stability.

The President also dismissed accusations that the region had been sidelined, pointing to continued investment in projects such as the Hoima–Kyegegwa road and petroleum-related infrastructure. He encouraged families to adopt the four-acre farming model and take advantage of government support under the Parish Development Model.

Jonard Asiimwe, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Region, pledged thorough supervision of the industrial park project to ensure it is completed as planned.
