Judiciary Praises Luzzi’s Reform Ideas, Invites Him to National Court Opening

Kampala Central MP aspirant Abraham Luzzi has been invited to attend the Second National Court Opening Day on December 15th 2025, following public recognition of his judicial reform proposals by Uganda’s Judiciary spokesperson, Ereemye Mawanda.

The invitation came after an eight-minute conversation between the two at CBS 89.2 FM, where Mawanda acknowledged Luzzi’s vision for improving Uganda’s justice system.

“I was the first judge to watch Luzzi’s viral video about judicial reforms,” Mawanda said during the radio appearance. “I was impressed by the message and shared it with other members of the judiciary.”

In his widely circulated video, Luzzi proposed several reforms to address case backlogs in Uganda’s courts, including recruiting additional judges and implementing shift systems similar to those used in European countries.

Mawanda publicly endorsed these ideas during their CBS FM discussion, stating that the Judicial Service Commission should consider expanding the number of judges to handle the growing caseload. He also supported the concept of judges working in shifts to expedite case handling and reduce delays.

The public acknowledgment from a senior judiciary official has enhanced Luzzi’s visibility in the race for the Kampala Central MP seat. Political observers note that endorsements from respected institutional figures can significantly boost a candidate’s profile, particularly among voters concerned with governance and legal reforms.

Luzzi has since begun engaging with judicial authorities as part of his campaign platform focused on legal system improvements.

The December 15th National Court Opening Day will bring together judges, legal practitioners, and stakeholders to discuss the future direction of Uganda’s justice system.
