NUP Floored in Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Lutamaguzzi Sent Packing

The parliamentary map of Nakaseke and Nakasongola has shifted following elections that produced new winners, retained veterans, and closely fought contests across several constituencies.

In Nakaseke South, Charles Nsereko Basajjassubi of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) won the parliamentary seat after polling 30,279 votes. He defeated NUP’s Paulson Luttamaguzi Ssemakula, who garnered 18,123 votes.

Nakaseke Central also changed representation after State Minister for Kampala Metropolitan Affairs Kyofatogabye Kabuye defeated National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Allan Mayanja Ssebunya. Kyofatogabye secured 13,678 votes, while Ssebunya polled 8,178 votes.

For the Nakaseke District Woman Member of Parliament seat, incumbent MP Sarah Najjuma retained her position after obtaining 55,455 votes. Her closest challenger, Esther Nakawooya of the NUP, finished second with 26,875 votes.

In Nakasongola District, Berunado Ssebugga Kimeeze of the NRM won the Budyebo County seat after securing 13,628 votes. He narrowly defeated Bernard Kiirya Ssekyanzi, who polled 12,797 votes, while Adrian Kizza of the NUP received 1,371 votes.

Nakasongola County, however, went to the opposition, with NUP’s Ivan Kyeyune emerging winner after collecting 15,611 votes. He defeated NRM candidate Stephen Tibelondwa Bujjingo, who received 11,669 votes, and independent candidate Rogers Bwanga Sande, who garnered 2,731 votes.

In the race for Nakasongola District Woman Member of Parliament, NRM’s Victorious Zawedde retained the seat with 32,866 votes. Independent candidate Sarah Nakate followed with 16,898 votes, while NUP’s Sharon Emily Amahoro received 8,078 votes. Other contenders included independents Editor Ndiraba with 1,287 votes and Esther Nakamya with 941 votes.
