South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir and Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga, who oversees the Economic cluster, reaffirmed their strong dedication to tackling the nation’s pressing issues. These include matters of security, the economy, and readiness for the forthcoming elections.
A statement released by the Office of the President indicated that the two officials made this pledge during discussions at the Presidency on Monday, January 19. In their conversation, they examined the prevailing political, security, and economic conditions across the country.
Particular focus was placed on the need to secure lasting stability in preparation for the general elections scheduled for December this year.
Dr. Igga provided President Kiir with an update on the recently held Mundari Cultural Festival. He portrayed the event as an essential platform for fostering unity and encouraging peaceful relations among different communities.
He noted that the government is actively mobilizing citizens to support initiatives centered on peace and reconciliation.
As the First Deputy Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Vice President James Wani Igga also shared insights with the President regarding internal party developments.
The briefing centered on organizational aspects deemed essential for reinforcing the SPLM’s influence within South Sudan’s broader political landscape.
