Security agencies have arrested five suspects linked to a string of aggravated robberies across the Kampala Metropolitan Policing area, recovering three firearms and related exhibits during the operation.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out between January 24 and 27, 2026, in Kiti A Zone, Kirinya Parish, Bweyogerere Division, Wakiso District.
The suspects are; Amutuhairwe Robinson, a discharged former army personnel, Okello Daniel, a security guard employed by Fortebet, Kasango Arafat, Luyirika Joseph Innocent and Alphonse Daniel
During the raid, police recovered three guns, three magazines, and additional items connected to the crimes.
Under interrogation, the suspects admitted their role in the murder of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bagenda Emmanuel, who served as Officer-in-Charge of Ntawo Police Post.
The killing took place on November 23, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. along the Ntawo–Nyenje Road in Ntawo Cell, Ntawo Ward, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District.
Initial findings show that ASP Bagenda was fatally shot while on patrol, responding to intelligence about an armed robbery in the vicinity.
The arrested individuals also confessed to involvement in multiple aggravated robberies, particularly targeting mobile money agents and vendors, within various parts of the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
Investigations remain active, with authorities pursuing leads to apprehend other accomplices believed to be connected to these offenses.
Police commended the officers involved for their commitment and professionalism, assuring the public that all acts of violent crime will continue to be rigorously investigated and brought to justice.
