27 Arrested in Bulindo and Buwate Drug Crackdown

Police under Kira Police Division conducted a major joint security operation in Bulindo Katuli Zone and Buwate Ghetto on Thursday night, February 12, 2026, as part of intensified crackdowns on rising crime in the area.

The operation, which commenced at 8:00 p.m., focused on locations known to be frequented by suspected criminals, particularly those involved in drug-related activities.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, a total of 27 suspects were arrested during the exercise.

“The suspects were found in possession of suspected narcotic substances and have been charged accordingly,” Owoyesigyire stated.

Police recovered several exhibits believed to be narcotic drugs, which have been secured as evidence.

The arrested individuals remain in custody while officers screen them, verify identities, and prepare case files for prosecution.

ASP Owoyesigyire described the operation as successful and confirmed that similar coordinated security sweeps will continue in identified crime hotspots across the division.

“Police remain committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for all residents,” he emphasized.

Authorities have appealed to members of the public to actively support security efforts by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or individuals in their communities.

The operation underscores ongoing police efforts to combat drug trafficking and related crimes in peri-urban and ghetto areas around Kampala.
