Uganda Cranes Captain Khalid Aucho Suspended for Three Months Over Misconduct, Absenteeism

Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars SC has suspended Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho for three months following allegations of misconduct and absenteeism.

The club also handed a three-month suspension to Aucho’s teammate Amas Obasogie, pending investigations into claims of match-fixing.

Singida Black Stars confirmed the disciplinary measures in an official statement issued through its Disciplinary Committee.

The club stated that Aucho’s suspension stems from repeated misconduct and unauthorised absence, while Obasogie’s sanction allows time for a thorough probe into the match-fixing allegations.

“The club reminds all its players and staff to uphold discipline, accountability, and respect for the club,” the statement read.

Aucho, a long-serving midfielder and one of Uganda’s most experienced players, has responded to the suspension, strongly denying any wrongdoing and insisting he has always conducted himself professionally.

“I understand my responsibility as a professional player. I have always served every club with respect and discipline,” Aucho said in a statement.

Addressing his supporters directly, he expressed confidence the matter would be resolved.

“To my fans who have stood by me, this situation will pass,” he added.

The suspensions take immediate effect, sidelining both players as Singida Black Stars continues its internal investigations.

The development represents a rare controversy for Aucho, who has built a reputation as a disciplined leader on and off the pitch.

The 31-year-old has been a mainstay for the Uganda Cranes and previously played for clubs including Baroka FC (South Africa), Young Africans SC (Tanzania), and Police FC (Uganda).

Singida Black Stars, currently competing in the Tanzanian Premier League, did not provide further details on the specific incidents leading to the sanctions or the timeline for completing investigations.

No official comment has been issued from the Uganda Cranes management or the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) at the time of publication.
