Bollywood Star Shraddha Pandit Lights Up Kampala Holi Festival as Plascon Backs Cancer Awareness Drive

The East Indian Cultural Association (EICA) turned the spirit of Holi into a meaningful celebration of culture, music, and health awareness in Kampala, with Kansai Plascon as the main sponsor for its 2026 Holi Musical Festival.

Held over two days at Kampala Parents School as part of the wider Holi festivities, the event drew members of the Indian community, invited guests, and cultural enthusiasts dressed in vibrant traditional attire.

Families exchanged greetings while children added to the excitement, creating a lively atmosphere of renewal and unity.

The programme kicked off with energetic performances by children’s cultural dance groups, whose colourful costumes and lively choreography earned enthusiastic applause and set a joyful tone.

The evening’s highlight came with a dynamic concert by renowned Bollywood playback singer Shraddha Pandit. To loud cheers, she delivered a captivating set of classic and contemporary Bollywood hits, her powerful vocals and engaging stage presence turning the venue into a full-scale dance floor as audiences sang along and danced.

This year’s festival carried a deeper purpose: raising awareness about cancer, a growing public health challenge in Uganda where many cases are detected late due to limited knowledge and delayed screening.

EICA dedicated the event to supporting outreach campaigns that bring education on early detection, regular check-ups, and timely treatment to rural villages across the country.

By blending festive traditions with this vital cause, organizers aimed to leverage community gatherings to spotlight an issue affecting thousands of Ugandan families.

Kansai Plascon’s sponsorship underscored the company’s ongoing commitment to cultural initiatives and social responsibility within Uganda’s Indian diaspora and broader society.

Managing Director Santosh Gumte attended and received an award from EICA recognizing his and Plascon’s contributions to community development.

In brief remarks, he expressed pride in backing an event that celebrates unity while advancing meaningful health awareness efforts.

The festival highlighted how cultural events can drive positive social impact, combining joy, tradition, and advocacy in one colourful package.
