President Salva Kiir Mayardit has replaced four undersecretaries in different ministries as part of an ongoing cabinet reshuffle.
The changes were announced through a presidential decree read on state television on Friday, March 27, 2026.
The affected undersecretaries and their replacements are:
- Ministry of Health: Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko was relieved and replaced by Dr. Oromo Francis Seriano.
- Ministry of Labour: John Sebit Mabor was removed and replaced by Peter Wani Jada.
- Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism: Mangar Ayuel was relieved and replaced by William Ater Alier.
- Ministry of Petroleum: Kuol Daniel Kuol was removed and replaced by Mabior Riak Chol.
No official reasons were provided for the changes.
The decree simply stated that the president had relieved the four officials and appointed new ones in their place.
This latest reshuffle follows the dismissal of Health Minister Sarah Cleto Rial just days earlier, amid the withdrawal of US-funded laboratory staff from the National Public Health Laboratory due to security and control concerns.
The changes come at a time of heightened political tensions in the unity government, with ongoing disputes over power-sharing, the continued house arrest and treason trial of First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar, and stalled implementation of the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement.
