The government of Lakes State has selected 38 students (19 boys and 19 girls) for the first phase of the Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit Scholarship Program.
The announcement was made on April 1, 2026, by state officials.
The scholarship, initiated by Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit (daughter of President Salva Kiir and Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs), will fully sponsor the selected students to study at Cornestone Vision Academy in Aweil, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
The program targets orphans, vulnerable children, and students from disadvantaged families across South Sudan.
A total of 100 students from Lakes State are expected to benefit, with the remaining 62 to be selected in the second phase.
State Minister of General Education Abraham Makur said the selection process was transparent and merit-based.
He urged the beneficiaries to study hard and become responsible citizens who will contribute to the development of Lakes State and the country.The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, meals, and other scholastic materials.
The selected students are expected to travel to Aweil soon to begin their secondary education.
This initiative is part of Adut Salva Kiir’s broader efforts to promote education for vulnerable children nationwide and support nation-building through quality education.
