The long-running dispute over the estate and lineage of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Kafeero is finally nearing its conclusion, as authorities prepare to release official DNA test results this month.

On June 25, 2026, the Uganda Police Force and the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory (DGAL) will publicly announce and read the DNA findings involving more than 25 individuals who have claimed to be biological children of the iconic musician.

The announcement was confirmed by Minister of State for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, who has played a key role in efforts to resolve the prolonged family conflict.

The official reading of the results will take place at Police Headquarters in Naguru.

Barugahara revealed that the DNA analysis was conducted jointly by the Police Forensic Laboratory, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Andrew K. Mubiru, and the DGAL team headed by Kepher Kuchana Kateu.

He noted that the results will be presented in a carefully managed public event, with invited attendees including the claimants, their mothers, relatives, clan leaders, journalists, and selected close associates of the late Kafeero.

For nearly two decades, numerous individuals have publicly asserted themselves as Kafeero’s children, sparking intense family disputes and widespread public interest.

Until now, none of these claims had been scientifically confirmed.Officials say the DNA testing aims to deliver definitive answers and bring much-needed closure to a matter that has remained unresolved for 19 years.
