South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has swapped the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Michael Makuei Lueth, with the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Wek Mamer Kuol.
In a Republican Decree announced on state-owned SSBC on Thursday, Dr. Wek Mamer Kuol was appointed as the new Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, while Michael Makuei Lueth was reassigned to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Michael Makuei had served as Justice Minister since November 2025, when he replaced Joseph Geng Akech.
Prior to that, he held the position of Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services for several years and served as the government spokesperson.
Dr. Wek Mamer had been serving as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs before his new appointment to head the Justice Ministry.
The ministerial changes take immediate effect.
