The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has issued Patriotic Officer Numbers to 14 individuals, including former Inspector General of Police Gen (Rtd) Kale Kayihura and Security Minister Maj Gen (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi.
The organisation has also made fresh appointments in its External Affairs department.
This latest move forms part of PLU’s ongoing efforts to expand its membership.
The assignments were announced in an official statement dated July 5, 2026, signed by PLU General Secretary Twalla Fadil.
According to the statement, the numbers were allocated by PLU Chairman and Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The statement indicates that Maj Gen (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi was assigned Patriotic Officer Number 71, while Gen (Rtd) Kale Kayihura received Number 73.

In a separate development, the PLU Chairman appointed Stephen Rutasharara as Commissioner for External Affairs and Counsel Ronny Kananura as Deputy Commissioner for External Affairs.
