Kitara FC have secured the services of Ghanaian defender Bonney Christopher on a two-year deal as they prepare for the 2026/27 season.

Bonney is the club’s first signing in the current transfer window. The move strengthens Kitara’s squad ahead of a busy campaign that features the CAF Confederation Cup, the Uganda Premier League, and the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The versatile defender brings experience from the Ghana Premier League and Tajikistan’s top division. Primarily a centre-back, he can also operate at right-back or in defensive midfield, giving head coach Wasswa Bbosa greater flexibility in defence.

At Kitara, he will battle for a starting spot alongside Murushid Jjuuko, Isa Lumu, Benjamin Nyakoojo, and Samuel Kato Nimeyimana.

After signing, Bonney shared his enthusiasm for the new challenge.

“There is a lot expected of me from my teammates and the fans, but I want to pledge my commitment and determination to help us win games and titles this season,” he said.

Coach Wasswa Bbosa revealed that the club had been tracking the player for some time.

“We have been monitoring him for a while and we are delighted to add him to the squad. He has a positive mentality, good experience and brings real competition for places. He will be an important player for us next season,” Bbosa stated.

Bonney has made over 40 appearances in the Ghana Premier League with clubs including Asante Kotoko, Ebusua Dwarfs, Hearts of Oak, and Kerala United. He later moved to Tajikistan, where he played 22 matches for Panjsher Balkh in the 2023/24 season.
