South Sudan President Salva Kiir on Thursday officially inaugurated Terminal 3 at Juba International Airport under the theme “A New Era of Safe, Secure, and Sustainable Air Transport for All.”

According to the Office of the President, the new terminal represents one of the most significant upgrades to the country’s main international gateway since independence.

It offers travelers a modern, world-class facility built to international aviation standards.

President Kiir described the commissioning of the terminal as a proud national achievement and a milestone that demonstrates the country’s growing ambitions.

“Today (Thursday) marks a significant milestone for Juba International Airport. I am pleased to officially open Terminal Three,” he said.

“I extend my sincere thanks to the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority, and everyone who worked tirelessly to deliver this project despite the challenges.”

Kiir emphasized that investments in critical infrastructure are central to the government’s vision of building a peaceful, prosperous, and well-connected nation.

He also highlighted the need for accountability in public projects to ensure value for money.“As we celebrate this success, we must remember the mistakes of the past.

I urge all officials responsible for public contracts to conduct thorough due diligence before awarding them,” he said.

“We must ensure government projects are not delayed by poor management of contracts.”

The president stated that the opening of the new terminal shows the government is on the right path.

“This progress sends a strong positive signal to the world. I invite international investors to partner with us in advancing South Sudan’s aviation sector,” he added.
