Striker Hassan Mubiru Joins Azam FC from SC Villa

Tanzanian Premier League club Azam FC has officially presented Ugandan forward Hassan Mubiru following the completion of his transfer from Ugandan side SC Villa.

The deal was finalized on Monday, as Mubiru put pen to a two-year contract.

This comes even though he still had one year left on the three-year agreement he signed upon joining SC Villa in 2024.

The striker delivered a strong 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season, netting four goals and registering three assists, which established him as one of the Jogoos’ key performers.

Mubiru’s exit marks the fifth departure from SC Villa in the ongoing transfer window, after Charles Lwanga (to KCCA FC), Missi Ssemugera (to Kitara FC), Elvis Ngonde (to KCCA FC), and goalkeeper Norman Angufindru.

In response, SC Villa has bolstered its roster with new signings Isaac Gumperom, John Asiimwe, and Steven Mugisha, while also securing a contract extension for Denis Ojara.

Mubiru first gained prominence by helping the Uganda Cubs secure the 2019 CECAFA U-17 Championship title.

He previously played for Express FC and KCCA FC before moving to SC Villa.

At Azam FC, he joins a group of recent recruits that includes Junior Kipre, Henri Stanic, Henock Moliaz Lupini Dieumerci, and John Mano.

Azam concluded the 2025/26 Tanzania Premier League season in third position with 64 points, finishing behind Simba SC (73 points) and champions Young Africans (75 points).
