Kitara FC have finalized the acquisition of attacking midfielder Jeromy Kirya, securing him on a two-year deal as they build their squad for the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.

Kirya joins the Royals as a free agent following the end of his contract with BUL FC.

The agreement will see him remain at the Hoima-based club until June 2028.

This signing marks Kitara’s second attacking addition in the current transfer window, after bringing in Martin Kizza.

The midfielder drew attention from multiple top-flight clubs before deciding to move to Kitara.

Upon completing the transfer, Kirya shared his thoughts on the new challenge after several years in Jinja.

“It’s a new team and place for me after being in Jinja for quite some time, but I’m steadily settling in well. Let’s hope for the best experience,” Kirya told the club’s media.

“There are many good players in the team and I definitely expect the competition to be high, but I believe I have what it takes to succeed here.”

Kirya departs BUL after five seasons, during which he recorded 116 appearances, 15 goals, and nine assists.

Prior to joining BUL in 2021, he spent three seasons at Kirinya-Jinja SS, having started his football career at Jinja Secondary School.

Versatile enough to play as an attacking midfielder or in a deeper central role, Kirya is recognized for his strong work rate, reliability, and powerful long-range shooting.

At Kitara, he will battle for midfield spots alongside players like Frank Zaga Tumwesigye, Gaddafi Wahab, and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa as the club continues to reinforce its roster.

Kirya’s arrival comes shortly after Kitara signed Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, underlining the club’s active approach in the transfer market ahead of the new campaign.
