Uganda Premier League club Lugazi FC have finalized the acquisition of versatile winger and right-back Frank Mulimi from SC Villa, signing him to a two-year contract.

The multi-position player has joined Abbey Kikomeko’s squad in preparation for the 2026/27 season and has already linked up with the team for pre-season training.

After completing the transfer, Mulimi voiced his enthusiasm about the new opportunity with the Leaders.

“I am pleased with this move. I am impressed with the project here and I love the organisation at this club. I have come to work harder because I believe that’s the only way this team can get better results,” he said.

The former SC Villa player added that his familiarity with several teammates and the coaching staff will ease his integration.

“I am familiar with most of the players here, including the coach, and that will make it easy for me to hit the ground running.”

Mulimi brings solid top-flight experience to Lugazi, having previously turned out for Gaddafi FC (now Entebbe UPPC FC) and SC Villa.

During his five-year stay at Gaddafi, he played a pivotal role in the club’s journey from regional leagues to the FUFA Big League and eventually the Uganda Premier League between 2019 and 2024.

He moved to SC Villa ahead of the previous season, where he made 10 league appearances and scored one goal for the record champions.

The 24-year-old developed his skills through Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) and Iganga Parents Secondary School (IPA) before stepping into senior football.

Mulimi represents the latest reinforcement for Lugazi FC as the club continues to strengthen its roster ahead of the new Uganda Premier League season, scheduled to begin in late August.
