Chaapa League Season 11 to Conclude with Grand Finale in Mbarara

The 11th season of Chaapa League will reach its climax on Saturday, 19 September, with a major finale at the Mbarara High School (Chaapa) Grounds.

Organised under the theme “Back to the Kraal,” the event aims to reconnect alumni from various years through football, camaraderie and their shared Chaapa heritage as the league returns to its origins.

The regular season took place in Kampala, with the top eight sides advancing to the knockout phase of the finale.

Quarterfinal pairings were drawn on Wednesday at the official Season 11 finale launch held at Inspire Cafe in Kampala.

Defending champions Yobo Yobo will take on CHOGM FC, while SC Rwizi face Dingiswayo FC.

See Far FC will clash with Bulls OldTimers, and CF Burdizo meet Rugabo City.

The four quarterfinal winners will progress to the semifinals, with the two successful sides contesting the final to decide the Season 11 title.

Chaapa League Chairperson Kenedy Gumisiriza confirmed that preparations are well advanced and appealed to former students to attend the occasion.

“We have made great preparations for a successful climax on 19 September 2026 at the Mbarara High School main playgrounds. We urge all the old students to come and be part of it,” Gumisiriza said.

Guinness Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, Denise Paula Nazzinda, said the brand intends to elevate this year’s finale by extending the experience beyond the matches themselves.

“We want everyone who comes to the finale to enjoy great football, great company and great Guinness moments. Most importantly, we want everyone to have a Lovely Day for a Guinness,” Nazzinda stated.

She noted that Guinness plans to expand on the previous year’s successful event with additional entertainment and fan engagement.

“The last finale was an exciting celebration, with the Guinness touch adding to the atmosphere and overall experience. This year, we are going even further. Guinness is big on football and passionate about creating experiences that live beyond the game,” she added.

The programme will also include a women’s match featuring Holistics, an alumni side from Maryhill High School, against a select team from the Maryhill Old Girls Association (MOGA).

Holistics captain Sheeba Ahereza said the competition has allowed her team to engage with a broader alumni football network.

“We are proud to be part of the Chaapa League, which has grown into one of the key alumni football leagues. We are looking forward to the finale and the chance to share the weekend with old students, families and football fans,” Ahereza remarked.

Organisers indicated that the full entertainment programme will be revealed closer to the date, with several activities planned to complement the football and ensure a memorable Season 11 finale for all attendees.
