Police FC have strengthened their squad with two new signings as they prepare for Thursday’s Uganda Premier League “Battle of Forces” against UPDF FC at the Kira Road Police Arena.
The Cops have completed the permanent transfers of striker Sam Ssekamatte and defender Najib Fesali, both on three-year contracts.
Ssekamatte joins from NEC FC and brings significant experience, having previously played for BUL FC, UPDF FC, Red Arrows and Al Jawaish FC.
He is expected to add competition and quality to a forward line that already includes Bedia Ikamba, Marko Teny, Charles Bbaale and Lawrence Tezikya.
Fesali, who was playing in India, returns to Ugandan football with a solid CV that includes spells at Kyaggwe, URA FC and BUL FC.
His arrival gives head coach Mathias Lule more defensive options alongside Deus Bukenya, Daniel Jakony, Benon Tahomera and fellow new signing Patrick Kagulire.
Police opened the season with a 1-0 win over Mbarara City before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Blacks Power on Matchday Two.
The club has been active in the transfer market, also bringing in midfielder Siraje Ssentamu (NEC FC), goalkeeper Shukuru Hadji (Calvary), Ivan Mayanja and Rogers Kiwanuka (both Maroons), as well as Ojok Junior Emmanuel among other additions.
Coach Lule will be hoping the new faces can make an immediate impact as Police look to improve on last season’s performance and mount a stronger title challenge.
