Timothy Kayanja, the well-known Ugandan TikTok creator better recognised by his online name Jayden, has died.

The 25-year-old passed away in the early hours of Tuesday following a long struggle with aplastic anaemia, a rare and serious blood disorder in which the bone marrow stops producing sufficient blood cells.

He had been receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit at the time of his death.

Treating the condition required a bone marrow transplant estimated at $30,000 (approximately Shs 108 million).

His family launched a public fundraising drive to cover the costs.

President Yoweri Museveni contributed $60,000 toward the treatment, which enabled Jayden to travel to India in May for the procedure.

He remained in intensive care after the transplant.

Jayden first captured national attention during the 2024 Christmas season when one of his comedic TikTok skits went viral.

In the video he joked about the many city children flooding villages for the holidays, playfully calling all of them “Jayden.”

The clip quickly inspired a widespread trend, turning the name into a popular nickname for spoilt children and eventually becoming inseparable from the creator himself.

His death has left fans and fellow content creators across Uganda grieving the loss of one of the country’s most recognisable TikTok personalities.
