Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz will meet fans at an exclusive private meet and greet at the Kampala Marriott Hotel on 29th October.
The evening comes just ahead of his headline performance at Comedy Store Uganda’s 10th anniversary celebration.
Billed as “An Exclusive Night with the Simba,” the Marriott gathering is a dinner affair.
Doors open at 8PM and dinner is served at 9PM.
Guests will sit at reserved tables, which start at UGX 5 million, so places are limited.
Joining the Bongo Flava heavyweight will be Rwandan star The Ben, DJ Lil Stunner and Myko Ouma, who will keep the music going through the night.
Reservations are handled by phone on +256 772 977 979.
The private evening is the opening act of a bigger weekend. Diamond is due to headline the Comedy Store anniversary show at the Cricket Oval in Lugogo, which organisers rescheduled for 30th October 2026.
The celebration marks a decade since Comedy Store premiered at Diner’s Lounge in Bukoto in May 2016. In ten years, the platform has helped shape Uganda’s creative economy and launched many comedic careers.
The anniversary show was originally planned for 5th June. Organisers postponed it after consulting Ministry of Health officials over Ebola concerns. They confirmed the new date on 22nd July and said the line-up remains intact.
Diamond leads that line-up alongside The Ben and Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi. Ugandan acts including Spice Diana, Lydia Jazmine, Winnie Nwagi and Fik Fameica will also perform.
This will not be Diamond’s first time on a Comedy Store stage. His July 2019 showcase there was widely reviewed as outstanding and energetic.
In 2023 he returned to Kampala for a Comedy Store fundraising concert at Kololo Airstrip. The proceeds supported the Home of Hope Charity football match, the Comedy Auditions Program, and the Youth Training and Mentorship Program. At the time, he linked his involvement to his own upbringing in a situation of need.
Fans can follow the build-up online using #DiamondPlatnumz, #KampalaMarriott and #ComedyStoreUGAt10.
