Security Forces on Thursday evening barred Kyadondo East Member of Parliament and musician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine from flying abroad for for treatment.
The legislator was blocked from boarding a flight at Entebbe Airport before he was arrested and whisked to Kiruddu Hospital located along Salaama Road in Makindye Division
According to relatives, he was headed to the United States for treatment following injuries he sustained when he was brutally arrested and allegedly tortured in Arua two weeks ago.
Mityana municipality MP Francis Zaake, who was also flying to India for treatment over the same, was barred from boarding his flight at 3:00PM on Thursday.
Police says, Zaake escaped from its custody in Arua and was intending to flee the country. He too was dropped off at Kiruddu Hospital.
Whereas as Police says Zaake was wanted over committing offences including treason, assaults and malicious damage to property, it is unclear why Bobi Wine was arrested at Entebbe.
The singer cum MP was released on bail in Gulu together with 32 others on Monday and granted court permission to seek medical treatment at a health facility of his choice.
Both MP’s were receiving treatment at Lubaga Hospital in Kampala before they decided to seek further medical assistance from abroad.
Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo said, “Bobi Wine (Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi) and Francis Zaake will be allowed to proceed for further treatment abroad after government doctors have examined them to ascertain their medical conditions”.
We shall keep you posted.
