Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has promised to use all options available to ‘liberate Uganda.’
“All decent options will be put on the table to liberate our country,” he said.
Bobi Wine made the comment while addressing journalists in Washington DC, America on Thursday evening.
He was flanked by his international lawyer Robert Amsterdam who organized the press conference.
Bobi Wine is currently in America for specialized treatment following his torture while in custody of President Museveni’s elite guards, the Special Forces Command (SFC)
He was arrested on Monday August 13 in the West Nile district of Arua following a brawl that erupted during area Parliamentary election campaigns.
He was charged with illegal possession of military ammunition and remanded to Makindye military barracks from where the charges were dropped.
He was later re-arrested and charged with treason before being released on Bail and allowed to access treatment in the United States.
“All we desire is to see that the people of Uganda are the masters of their own destiny. We still advocate for people power which is our power. We need leaders who shall be servants with the people as the masters,” Bobi Wine said.
Asked about his current health situation, Bobi Wine said; “all I know is I am alive.”
“I was brutalized by SFC soldiers and severely beaten. I was injected with chemicals I don’t know and I spent a lot of time in cuffs. My hands are peeling,” Bobi further narrated as he showed his hands to the cameras.
Says he is coming back
Contrary to speculation that had started to grow, pointing to Bobi Wine seeking asylum in the United States and not returning to Uganda, the legislator said; “I must go back home, Uganda is my home.”
“I am going back home after my treatment because Uganda is my home. We have to create a home that is good and fitting for our children and our childrens’ children.”
