Apollo Kantinti, the former Kyadondo East Member of Parliament has been remanded to Luzira Prison by the Kampala High Court over failure to service his three-year loan.
The former MP is to spend six months in Luzira until he clears all 260million that he owes.
In the 2017 by-election, Kantinti lost his parliamentary seat to Hon Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine). He is said to have failed to clear the loan he took from Standard Chartered Bank in June 2016.
Kantinti allegedly borrowed Shs 300million from the bank which he was supposed to pay back in 50million instalments over a period of four years with a 25% interest.
In 2017 however, he started defaulting on his monthly payments which compelled the bank to rush to court.
The High court Deputy registrar in charge of execution Flavia Nabakooba would later issue a warrant for his arrest.
He was arrested and taken in to court where he was charged and remanded to Luzira maximum security prison for six months.
