MTN Uganda Foundation handed over a newly finished and furnished classroom block to PEAS Samling Nama High school in Mpigi district on Friday 12.
The school was started by PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) a UK based NGO. With operations in Uganda and Zambia, PEAS operates with the aim of improving and increasing access to better education services in hard to reach communities.
It’s located in Mawokota North sub county and was started to cater for learners who had no accessible secondary schools to join upon completing their primary education.
MTN Uganda general manager for corporate services, Ms Enid Edroma, handed over the block to PEAS and expressed MTN’s commitment to supporting education in Uganda.
“As MTN Uganda Foundation, we are aware that a good learning environment improves learning, which in turn improves learning outcomes. We are happy to provide that for the students in PEAS Sampling Nama High School,” she said.
Mawokota County North Member of Parliament Amelia Kyambadde and Education ministry commissioner for Private Schools George Mutekanga attended the ceremony.
Mr Mutekanga urged local leaders and parents to value the education support and not take it for granted
The block whose construction commenced last year in August was eventually completed and fully furnished with classroom furniture by MTN Uganda Foundation.
