12 people perished on Monday night in a fatal accident on Walumbe junction, Buwenge town Council along Jinja – Kamuli road.

A TATA brand truck registration number UAK 344V transporting sugarcane failed to brake while on the steep hill causing it to roll backwards and then eventually, overturning.

Reports indicate that while residents around together with police were trying to push the truck away from the road, another one ferrying sugarcane, registration number UAK 996Z rammed into them.

The victims were rushed to Buwenge Health centre IV for postmoterm, but none of them could be identified.
