800 Sign Besigye’s Petition to Have Museveni Tried at ICC

People’s Government has so far gathered 800 signatures agreeing to a petition to have President Museveni indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC)

The petition led by Former President of the Forum for Democratic Party- FDC party Dr Kiiza Besigye.

Besigye and co have to collect at least two million before they submit their petition to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

People’s Government wants the President to be charged and tried on cases of crimes against humanity against President Museveni and other government officials in security agencies.

Some of the incidents cited by the Peoples government are the brutality against members of the opposition, the attack on Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere’s palace in Kasese town which led to the death of more than 100 people, the invasion of the Parliament by the army during the age limit debate and the rampant kidnaps and murders in the country.

While launching the search for signatures Besigye encouraged everyone irrespective of political leanings to sign the petition. He called on NRM members to join the party.

A number of NRM leaning leaders have however laughed off the cause saying that it won’t bear results as it is not the first time Besigye is engaging in something of the same sort.
