Theodre Ssekikubo’s woes are far from over. The MP was on Monday denied bail and remanded to Masaka Main Prison until Tuesday when he will appear again in court.
Ssekikubo appeared before court on Monday to face a number of charges including, possession of firearms, alleged murder, assault, inciting violence and malicious damage of property.
The Lwemiyaga Member of Parliament was arrested on Friday after he led a group of herdsmen to forcefully enter Lwemyiga market where police had enforced quarantine. His charge sheet has since been amended twice.
He now faces six counts of crimes.
In a bid to secure bail for Ssekikubo, his lawyer, Medard Lubega Sseggona presented a number of notable sureties including; Msabirye Kabanda ( Masaka District Woman MP), Hanifer Kawooya (Sembabule District Woman MP), Barnabas Tinkasimire (MP Buyaga West), Florence Namayanja (MP Bukoto East) and Johnson Kamugisha, the Lwemiyaga Sub county district councillor.
But the court denied him bail on account that he doesn’t respect court orders citing an incident in 2010 when he jumped bail.
