It is not news anymore that blogger Ashburg Kato has deserted Bobi Wine’s People Power for President Museveni’s National Resistance Movement.
Ashburg announced on his social media platform on Tuesday that he had crossed. He shared pictures which indicate he met the President at his farm in Kisozi, thanks to promoter Balaam Barugaraha who lured him to the yellow party.
Bobi has borrowed a line from one of his songs to comment on the situation: “When you stand for the truth, you better be ready to stand alone.”
Ashburg has been siding with Bobi Wine for more than a decade. But the blogger says he has not benefited much from supporting Bobi. “Apart from getting mentions on his page, and posing for pictures with him and his family, there is nothing more I have earned.”
The blogger says he met the President on Monday, although parallel reports suggest that the meeting took place in February 2019. At the meeting, Ashburg says he presented a proposal for a project he named, Ghetto Youth Initiative, under which he intends to uplift the youth.
He says the President endorsed his idea and promised to fund it. The President also gave him five cows.
