The Ministry of Health has confirmed a new COVID-19 case among the health workers bringing the total number of Health workers infected with Covid-19 in Uganda to 8.
“The confirmed case from Kampala is a nurse working with Mulago National Specialised Hospital, this brings the total number of frontline health workers who have tested positive for COVID-19 to eight in Uganda,” the Ministry tweeted.
The Ministry of Health on Sunday 31 May revealed that seven Frontline health workers tested positive and these included 3 nurses, 2 Doctors and 2 Senior level staff.
The Uganda Medical Association advised Medical workers to lay down their tools if they are not provided with enough personal protective gear.
The Ministry earlier on confirmed 15 new Covid-19 Cases bringing the total number of cases to 522. Among these cases, 4 were truck drivers who arrived from Tanzania via Mutukula, 2 from Busia.
According to the ministry, nine cases were from contacts and alerts, 3 from Amuru, 2 from Kyotera, 1 from Buikwe, 1 from Nakaseke, 1 from Lira and 1 from Kampala districts – the nurse.
Total cases of confirmed cases of Covid-19 cases currently stand at 522 with 82 recoveries and no deaths registered yet.
