Police in Kampala has arrested Joachim Kimera, the Chairperson LC1 of Kiyaga zone in Bwaise for grabbing a gun from a Police officer on duty.
The incident happened on Monday during the national Youth elections in Kiyaga zone, Bwaise 1, Kawempe Division in Kampala District.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the officer CPL Jack Rutabaleka was providing security at the polling station when he was insulted by youths, causing a scuffle.
“Six men came from behind and grabbed him unawares, in the process the Local Council I Chairman of the area Joachim Kimera came and disarmed him.
“Mr. Kimera was arrested this morning and he is helping Police with investigations to trace for the other suspects, who assaulted the police officer.
Onyango said that he is being detained at Kawempe Police Station on assault and obstruction charges as officers cocntinue to hunt for the six suspects to have them arrested for committing an offence.
