Police Speaks Out on Cause of Mother Majeri Fire

The police has spoken out on the cause of the fire that caught a boys’ dormitory at Mother Majeri Primary School in Bweyogerere- Kirinya on Sunday evening (April 23).

According to Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Emilan Kayima, although the police is still investigating the cause of the fire, they suspect it could have been caused by an electric short-circuit.

“The parents should not panic because their children are in safe hands at the school,” Kayima said.

He says, the Ministry of Education together with the police in 2008 cautioned schools not to have open electric connections.

Edward Basembeza, the school head teacher says their pupils have already returned to class because none of them died or sustained injuries in the fire.

He applauded the police fire brigade department for responding quickly to put out the Sunday fire.
