FUFA has zeroed down on Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku as the venue for the highly anticipated Stanbic Uganda Cup final, slated for May 25, 2024, a statement by the Federation has revealed.
In what promises to be an enthralling clash, Uganda Premier League newcomers Kitara will lock horns with NEC FC for the coveted trophy.
Kitara, based in Masindi, secured their place in the final after a hard-fought battle against Northern Regional League outfit Pajule Lions.
The Royals clinched victory over two legs, with Brian Ahebwa sealing their fate with a solitary goal in the 15th minute of the second leg, leading to a 4-1 aggregate win.
Their journey to the final marks a historic moment for Kitara, as it will be their debut appearance in the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, adding a new chapter to their impressive season as they can still win the league as well.
Meanwhile, NEC FC, making their debut in the Uganda Premier League this season, booked their spot in the final by overcoming former champions BUL in the semi-finals.
Joseph Dhata and Cromwell Rwothomio were instrumental in their 2-0 victory in the second leg at Lugogo, securing a 3-1 aggregate win after a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
It’s strong to note that Kitara has won both games at Wankulukuku this season, beating SC Villa in the league opener before needing Living Kabon’s late direct corner against Express.
